Satava Award (2006)

Richard Satava presenting me with the award. It was a big surprise on 26th January 2006 when I was given the 12th Annual Satava Award whilst attending the Medicine Meets Virtual Reality (MMVR) conference in Long Beach, California. Established in 1995 to acknowledge the pioneering contributions of Richard M. Satava MD FACS, the Satava Award is presented each year to an individual or research group demonstrating unique vision and commitment to the improvement of healthcare through advanced technology.

The inscription reads:

The MMVR14 Satava Award (12th Annual) For Nigel W. John PhD, to acknowledge his many accomplishments in the field of computer graphics and medical visualization and his ongoing contributions to the content and quality of MMVR.

The award included $2,500 and a Gold Pass to the NextMed/MMVR conference. I am still the only person from the UK to receive this award.
